ben cooper halloween costume
Ahhh, the good old days, when you could go to the local department store and pic threw hundreds of vinyl Ben Cooper Halloween costumes to make the big decision "should I be Han Solo or Chewbacca this year?" And who cares? Fuck it cause you'll still cut your tongue on the breathing hole!" Ben Cooper made stupid great costumes with that really basic but cool and colorful artwork. His box set costumes now command big bucks on the old e bay but I still see them at flee markets from time to time. The Frankenstein above is from my collection, it's pretty beat up but but I'm glad to still have it.
Dear Ben Cooper, I don't know what it is that I like so much about your crappy art buy man I sure love it!
out of the archive "box art/monster games"
As my blog goes on posts are getting buried deep. Every once in a wile I'm going to yank something out of the archive and dust it off with a repost. some things I think are to cool and deserve a repost.
Let's face it, not everyone has a year to read threw all this useless pop culture junk.
This time around I chose my monster game collection. Here are just but a select few from my collection. Another addition to Halloween week. Enjoy!
Oh, And do feel free to dig threw the archive, there is lots of tresure burried there!
"Originally on WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26, 2008"
Another obsession of mine is vintage box art, specifically monster art.
I've found some pretty cool monster games over the years at garage sales and flea markets.
Aside from the Roth and Weirdo model kit boxes I would have to say my favorite art is the THINGMAKER series.
You can still find them on e bay but they have become quite pricey.
The Green Ghost Game has one of the best box covers.
It has also recently been re released.
Here are a few pics from my collection.

monster of the week "metaluna"
What better monster for Halloween week than This Island Earth's Metaluna! Hell he's got the best haircut since Jack Pierce did Frankenstein's due. And he's got these cool claw like hands that are great for, well, clawing shit and tons of cool gross veins all over. And fuck man, he's got silver pants that would make David bowie jealous!
Plus Dude is blue!
I must add that nobody paints him better than Basil Gogos

more venture bros.
Some people don't get it (?!) and some people can't get enough of it.
Here is a clip from season 3. In my opinion on of the best shows on TV. Hell, Iggy was on it, what's not to get?

trip to jimmy's
A few weeks ago Steve Caballero and I popped by Jim Phillips's studio in Santa Cruz and interviewed him for the new issue of Gearhead magazine. Stevie and I had been talking about doing this for a wile so I'm glad we did it.
Jim's a great guy and one of my childhood artist/hero's so I was really stoked to meet him in person and who better to do a skate/art/hot rod related interview with than Stevie. The article comes out soon in the next issue of Gearhead.

I just herd the sad news today that Frankie Venom of Teenage Head passed away on Wednesday. Teenage Head are one of my favorite bands. No record collection is complete with out their '79 self titled release "Teenage Head".
I remember the first time I herd them my friend Heith played them for me. And I remember thinking "Holy shit this is good!"
To find out more about these Canadian punk legends and where to get their records visit Teenage Head
Franky, you will be missed!
RIP Frank Kerr aka Frankie Venom 1956 - 2008

hellacopters last shows streamed 25th/26th
The Hellacopters last shows, check 'em out!
The Hellacopters invites all their fans and friends world wide to see their
final gigs ever, live streamed on www.myspace.com/hellacopters , October 25
and 26.
In the mean time I found this cool youtube clips from European TV.
monster of the week (the Crimson ghost)
We all know this guy here from the Misfits but this is the 1946 serial were it started.
There have been a few name changes like The Scarlet Shadow and Cyclotrode "X".
In the early 1950s, The Crimson Ghost was one of fourteen Republic serials edited into a television series.
The film also got recolored in the 90's.
This is a must see for any monster, sci-fi, thriller fan!
I used to own a dubbed VHS copy a long time ago but you can now see the whole thing on youtube.
I figured this would make a great first addition to "Monster of the week" witch will be replacing Villain of the week cause let's face it, there are just way more cool monsters than villains and the last thing I'm going to do is post a fucking picture of Darth Vader on my blog. (unless it's airbrushed on a van).
Dig.

Villain of the week "Clawful"
I know, I know! what's with all the Master of the Universe characters for Villain of the week? Well, I just like 'em, I think they are stupid and cool.
I also haven't written much cause I'm busy and lazy.
